Elevator Ride To Hell
This is a poem about part of a sermon I heard when I was fifteen, February 22, 1975, the
day I was saved.
Don't be afraid to enter this elevator,
The good Lord has promised to keep
your soul for him,
Don't close your eyes for now the lights
we will dim.
Down we will go so please be ready for
the smell of flesh burning,
I'm sorry but the sound cannot be muted
I know your hearts will be yearning.
Remember that neighbor you failed to
tell about Jesus as he holds his
hands out with a plea,
Oh and there's that friend that you
wanted to tell them about jesus but
you figured one day they would see.
Do you remember that stranger that
you gave that dirty look to,
Well there he is begging for water
just a taste he wants from you.
Keep your eyes open for you know
it wouldn't be fair,
To turn your back on somebody
else as they burn in the
devil's lair.
Remember your co-worker the one
you thought was strange,
He was only depressed about his
life and now he's within your
range.
All those people you came in
contact with and you see many
pleading for mercy,
You know it's too late now
for these souls to be free.
As we return to reality and
cry to our Lord Jesus,
Remember those less fortunate
and pray for all of us.
