The Walk to Emmaus

Luke 24:13-35

We journeyed with such heavy hearts
From Jerusalem to Emmaus
Met a stranger from unknown parts
Welcomed Him to travel with us

He asked what we were speaking of
We were amazed He had not heard
They've killed the Son of the God of love
He quoted scriptures from God's word

The day was drawing near its end
As so was our journey complete
Traveling further we invited Him
To join us for something to eat

He blessed the food and broke the bread
What had closed our eyes now released us
Remembering the warmth in the words He said
We knew we had walked with Jesus

In an instant He now was gone
We returned to tell the others
He has risen…God's Son lives on
Go and spread the Word to your brothers!
