A Question of Infidelity – Her Reply
For the lovers of melodrama.
What more is there for me to want?
I have all I desire.
Should I wish for more than I need?
Will that quench the fire?
There is nothing in this wide world
that I really need.
I have it all when he is near.
I have it all, indeed.
What more can life offer to me
than the things I now own?
Why compromise this happiness
for as the yet unknown?
This love I have is all I require.
It makes my life complete.
Why throw it all to the winds
and maybe face defeat?
You say you can give all things
and make me fresh and new.
Why should I trust your words
and put my faith in you?
Though you say you love me
I think you are a liar.
You only utter those tender words
not from love, but desire.
I am in love with my husband
and I am his wife.
All you do with your actions
is fill my heart with strife.
You ask me to come away
and be there by your side.
Please desist this constant hounding
I am someone else's bride.
