Heart Of The Matter

Hide And Seek

Star crossed love in dead of night,
Play hide and seek by candlelight,
A childhood game of kiss and tell,
The deed is done, she tolls the bell,

Forsaking all who came before,
They open hearts, unlock the door,
The welcome mat is set in place,
She wins the game, he lost the race,

And twisting, turning, thoughts undone,
His passion pledged in summer sun,
Too late, too little, is the cry,
Prepare to kiss romance goodbye,

And all but dead the love inside,
Where did she go?
His blushing bride,
She kept her secret thoughts unseen,
Stood him up,
At Gretna Green.
