It has been 39 years since I was in Viet Nam. I wrote this poem
a few years back. I was reflecting on my life and grateful I was
to have made it back.
Viet Nam
We were young and filled with dreams
Than far away from home when Country called
Returning kids no more but as men it seems
Dreams and bodies shattered many lost in a fog
So young tossed into war in a grown up world
Many faced this new life and survived
For others their minds still whirl
Most just glad to be home and alive
I was lucky made it through the years
A caring family full of love
Their comfort helped me through the tears
And Gods gentle hand from above
