 My Life In Words

Just A Matter Of Time....

Abuse comes in many forms from people you wouldn't amagine doing it, sexual,
mental & physical was often overlooked, ignored, and we were to be seen and
not heard, my promise to myself, I've been able to keep, but my daughter was
sexually abused, it happened only once, but I listened, and I was her biggest
supporter, while alot of family members lived in denial, the man is now serving
a 300 year sentence, and I kept my promise.

I was thirteen, didn't know where
I wanted to be,
Didn't know who I could turn to
To set me free.
It was just a matter of time
Before I would know,
The path my life would take
And where I'd go.
I made a promise to myself
No man would ever abuse me,
I wanted to be strong so nobody
Could use me.
I was suppose to be seen and not
Heard,
It was just a matter of time before
I spread my wings and flew
Like a bird.
My older cousins taught me things
I shouldn't know,
I had nobody to turn to, no where
To go.
I turned fifteen, and found my
Guiding light,
He kept me safe everyday and
Night.
I knew it was just a matter of
Time when,
I would meet you my friend.
