THE AWAKENING

THE AWAKENING

We get up every day and go through our daily routine,
Same old job, same old tasks and always the same old scene,
We go through the motions in almost a robotic state,
We never ask ourselves why we do the jobs that we hate.

A humdrum existence without ever questioning our lot,
Was this truly meant for us, was it part of the plot,
Some of us live our lives without ever having been woken,
For others, they are blessed and their cocoon is broken.

Now a little knowledge is a very dangerous thing,
`What the Heck`, if a little glimpse of love makes your heart sing,
It lifts you so high you feel you could almost touch the sky,
But when it is gone, you will soon learn how to cry.

But what an awakening from a very dull life,
Love and passion can make your senses as sharp as a knife,
You step into a world you have never known before,
Your head is reeling, telling you that you just want more.

It is a wonderful thing, if only it can last,
Your time is precious and it passes all too fast,
So take the opportunity if it comes your way,
And grab it with both hands and enjoy it while you may.

Things are given to us so unexpectedly,
Taken from us in just the same way, deary me,
You never realized just how tactile you could be,
But this awakening opens your eyes and lets you see.

Now it`s great to experience all these emotions,
But when they`re gone, you will cry tears, rivers, seas and oceans,
Is this roller coaster ride worth the price you have to pay?
No one can answer that, it`s only YOU who can say.

So is it:-
Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all
Or:-
What you`ve never had, you never miss
Or:-
What the eye doesn`t see, the heart doesn`t grieve over
I do know that:-
You never knew what you had until it`s gone
And definitely:-
Ignorance is Bliss.
