Jeremy's Story (Jesus' Empty Tomb)
Jeremy was a boy with a
mind all mangled and torn,
His tiny body at age 10
was already old and worn.
His world was limited with
grunts and a groan,
His eyes wondered into
space with a moan.
Teachers worked hard to
get him to understand,
But his little mind just
wouldn't take a command.
His mother worked with him
constantly,
To teach him so his little
soul would be free.
Then one spring his teacher
told the students to bring,
Plastic easter eggs with
something resembling spring.
She didn't expect the boy
to bring anything,
She knew all he would do
in his heart sing.
As all the children brought
their easter eggs to school,
She opened each one by one
and anounced the meaning
so cool.
As she got to the little Jeremy's
she gently laid it down,
Out of nowhere he said with
a frown.
"Miss Duncan, aren't you going
to open mine?"
She was surprised he spoke for
the very first time.
She opened his plastic egg and
it was empty,
And she exclaimed "It's empty,
can you tell me why Jeremy?"
Without hesitation he stood
in front of the room,
And explained that it's the
symbol of Jesus' empty tomb!
Miss Duncan and afew students
all learnt something that day,
When school let out they went
home and did pray.
Later that spring little
Jeremy died,
And the whole school learnt
as they cried.
They realized that little
Jeremy wasn't so lost after all,
They knew that Jeremy had a
special friend who lifted him
up when he would fall.
They were taught more by little
Jeremy than any teacher could
have taught,
Because they realized his little
soul with blood had been bought.
For years to come they remembered
Little Jeremy standing in the
front of the room,
And each spring they would renew
Thier respect for that empty tomb.
