What I know NOW...{not a poem}

{This may coincide with my "what I know"page that I contributed in 06.}

What I know Now...

*we're all here for a reason; we all have something to contribute to the world…each of us has something to GIVE.

*You have to believe in yourself even when no one else does. It can be difficult when it seems as though everyone around you is telling you, you ‘can't', but you have to listen to your own voice, the one that never stops telling you that you CAN.

 *We should be thankful every time something bad happens to us, and count our blessings, because there is always something positive to be found amongst it all.{Be patient, it never presents itself right away.}

*Don't judge a book by its cover or a poem by its title…wisdom may just lie within…and an open mind is always vital.

*People CAN change; never give up hope on those who appear hopeless…miracles happen everyday {I am proof of this one}

*Patience is an incredible attribute. I am envious at times of those who have more of it then me{something I intend to overcome}…so be patient with people-you never know what's going on inside…and slow down!-{I wish I would of!}

*The best things in life are free, Yup, it's true. A pile of money isn't going to keep you warm at night, nor is it going to save you when the world crumbles around you…and it definitely can't come close to the feeling of knowing that you've helped someone.

*The amount of money in a person's bank account does not measure a person's success, and especially does not measure their happiness, by any means.

*No matter how many people like or respect you or what you do, there are always going to be a bunch who do not; there'll always be people trying to knock you down and you cannot please everyone. The important thing is to please yourself-whatever you do, do it for you; impress yourself first and do what makes you happy, and chances are, when someone else does not approve, you're already doing the right thing.

*Fixing a problem starts with admitting that you have one.

*There is always more to learn. What would be the point in our being here if we knew it all?

*You cannot run from yourself…if you are broken, you are broken wherever you are, {hence the reason I plan on fixing myself before attempting to complete the last thing on my list of "things to do before I die"-it may require some running}:]

*We should focus on what we can offer the world instead of what we can GET from it all the time.

*You can say you forgive someone all you want, but until you believe it and it comes from your heart, you've not forgiven them, therefore allowing you to be affected by the pain they've caused you; when all is forgiven, you will no longer feel this way, and then you'll know you've truly forgiven someone.

*Fight for what you want.Fight to keep what you already have...things, people; whatever would leave you lost if you lost them.

*"Nothing gold can stay"-Robert Frost's words which I have never forgotten since I read this poem when I was in junior high, however, the metaphor did not come in to play until I was twenty-one; having an abundance of wealth and opportunities can seem wonderful for a time, especially if you're not used to anything positive happening and you hang on to it a little too hard-but it will not stay…and later on, you may just see that it was never all it was cracked up to be anyway.{getting the ‘gold' is but a mere illusion of happiness}.

Yes I speak from experience. This is just what I know now…the rest is yet to come. :]
