Mercy
A sacrifice that cost nothing
Yet if one did we'd gain something
That has no taste yet fills our soul
Your soul God birthed and will behold
Mercy is good, it helps one know
The love of God in you bestowed
Whose arms reach forth to cradle you
Whose words comfort and see you through
How much more would it take to care
To show mercy to those who bare
The scars of life that pain them so
Burdened by sin, those we forego
The sick that need a hand once held
By those absent before they fell
To Aids, this plague that slowly steals
Life from thousands, death families feel
To turn the other cheek and give
A chance to those we should forgive
For in the end all will be asked
Did you forgive, or were you tasked
Mercy, an act, a gift given
To us by God all he's forgiven
Mercy an act, each heart should wear
As Jesus did on cross he bared
