Poetry For Everyday People
Unshackled Instincts
I have an aquarium
to help my eyes float
in my head, when my slot
machine mind is going and I
can't land on eyes,
I fear kisses on my
cheeks from certain people
for I feel their secrets,
even as a child
certain kisses I would
try to wipe off,
I let my guard down
and tongues invade me
like a thousand snakes inside
crawling, my mind paints doors and
windows on all walls,
I could never hide, claustrophobia
wouldn't allow me, ten seconds
underneath the bed and I have to
get out, so I learned to disappear
right before their eyes,
I long for new friends yet I can't
seem to get through the small talk
to find out what matters to them?
or in what manner to approach? or if
what matters matters to them?
I enjoy a drink.
to help my eyes float
in my head, when my slot
machine mind is going and I
can't land on eyes,
I fear kisses on my
cheeks from certain people
for I feel their secrets,
even as a child
certain kisses I would
try to wipe off,
I let my guard down
and tongues invade me
like a thousand snakes inside
crawling, my mind paints doors and
windows on all walls,
I could never hide, claustrophobia
wouldn't allow me, ten seconds
underneath the bed and I have to
get out, so I learned to disappear
right before their eyes,
I long for new friends yet I can't
seem to get through the small talk
to find out what matters to them?
or in what manner to approach? or if
what matters matters to them?
I enjoy a drink.
