Upon the darkest night that's ever been
The sky was filled with the blackest clouds~
And the smallest rays of cold white light
Danced among them as if dressed in shrouds~
The moon then came out slowly behind a cloud
It's colour a mournful blue so dark in tone~
Then I heard a painful cry echo from the sky
And the breezes blew as if to moan~
A dog outside gave foreth a painful howl
Then other dogs around joined in the same~
The blackest clouds then half hid the moon
A cry came from the woods as if in pain~
I stood there at my widow high
As I gazed at the coldest dark bluest moon~
The breeze then turned into a gust of wind
And joined the howling dogs with their painful tune~
My curtains waved madly , My light went out
Then in the dim light upon my window sill~
Landed the largest darkest crow
And it gave a high pitched shrill~
It looked right at me in such a way
Shivers flew right up my spine~
And then looking back at me
It flew off slowly through the pine~
The moon then came out so large
But still a mournful darkest blue~
In the dim light of this moon
I could still see this crow as it slowly flew~
And then the moon changed colour
It turned into the darkest red~
It was then I heard yet a higher scream
That sounded like the walking dead~
Just then I saw a shadow moving towards me
It was walking out from among the trees~
Closer it came and yet closer still
And way colder became the breeze~
Dogs now were howling along with the wind
This shadow was screaming too~
As it walked slowly but surely closer
In the dim moon light now once again so blue~
As the walking shadow got even closer
It's eyes they shone there in the night~
The breeze came through my window
More shivers up my spine with fright~
It walked up to my window as if floating
And began to climb my window sill~
Right then the loudest ear bursting scream it came
Get out of bed you lazy sod , Wake up time for work you dill~
