Wood Nymph
Lost Love
I could climb the highest mountain.
I know I could scale the top.
I could swim the widest river,
And never need to stop.
I could tackle my toughest problems,
And solve them with a smile.
If I knew I had your love, dear
Wrapped around me all the while.
I could face all my tomorrows
I'd follow where you'd go.
Knowing you will never love me
Is life's crulest blow.
I have loved in vain and lost the fight.
It is more then I can bear.
I'll take the crumbs that you offer-
Just give me what you think is fair.
So come. Sit beside me.
I love you, oh so much.
I will never have your love,
But I still need your tender touch
I'll cry alone, then I'll laugh with you.
I never want you to know.
The grief I am going through
Because I love you so.
The emptiness that stalks my soul
Is so, beyond compare.
To know I'll never feel your love,
To know that you don't care.
The mountain is too high.
The river is too wide.
I can't face life without you.
I need to run and hide.
To ride the wind and reach the stars
With you, that was my aim.
Knowing it can never be
Has shattered every dream.
The dream is gone. The pain is here.
My life feels over too.
There is no life. There is no love.
My love, if there are no you.
I'll wait no more for you.
I'll stop loving you for certain-
When I draw my final breath
And Life pulls down Her curtain.
I know I could scale the top.
I could swim the widest river,
And never need to stop.
I could tackle my toughest problems,
And solve them with a smile.
If I knew I had your love, dear
Wrapped around me all the while.
I could face all my tomorrows
I'd follow where you'd go.
Knowing you will never love me
