The young and old all came to spend
Some time to mourn an ear to lend
To share moments and comfort hearts
Where death became our time to start
The need to seek each other more
Before to late with those adored
For here today is gone tomorrow
Where loss of one brings us sorrow
Daughters, cousins, nieces and brothers
Uncles and aunts, sons and dear mothers
Grand kids, husbands, wives and true friends
Become reasons, to gather often
In loss we learn to live each day
As if our last our need to stay
To break bread more and keep in touch
In life to love each other much
And so today I sat and wrote
The Gathering to help evoke
What you will take upon goodbye
Inside your heart that made mine sigh
