Decorating EarthI've simply lost count of the gardens I made As I traveled over time~ Every time I moved again Made a garden oh so fine~ I've been back to places I have been And noticed trees I'v planted~ Tall and thick and very straight Some of them slightly slanted# Gardnens many I've put in Each place I've made a home~ Following then the work I did Always where I was a garden there had grown~ In all my vast amount of travels Done my bit to beautify the earth~ Flowers planted shrubs where grown Always a garden of such worth~ After a lifetime of being upon the road From one place to yet another~ I owe all my garden expertees To my longterm gardening past mother~ Now I find myself in England Where the gardens are so grand and many~ I made a few gardens here too But as large as home there was not any~ Soon I'm off again back to australia Going to be there for awhile~ And yes I'll plant another garden And yes it will please and make them smile~ I think so of all those that are rooted To one town or home or place~ And I think how they still must also have The first tree growing that they put in place~ This time if all goes as planned I'll plant trees and garden too~ And this will be the first time I will be there When they all got bigger yet and grew~ I'd love to say I've had that garden fork For twenty years or so~ But fifty times I'v had to buy yet more tools And garden plants to grow~ I'm bringing home the love of my life And she is a gardener too~ Love's me as much as she love's gardening And together we see all thing's through~ This time I am putting down roots as well Getten to old to beautify this earth~ I've given my bit to this planet gardening wise And in many other ways my worth~ Terrence Michael Sutton Copyright 2007 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
