We had just left 2004 behind
And our absent loved ones we brought to mind,

With bated breath he waited for her to reply,

He slipped a ring on to her finger,

`Congratulations` was wished by all of us,
A lovely occasion on which to make a fuss,
New Year revolved around just these two,
A bright new future with horizons anew.
