IT HURTS US BOTH

~^~IT HURTS US BOTH~^~

I saw you but I didn`t say hi!
I just quietly let you walk by,
Your shoulders were slumped and your head was down,
I saw your face and it wore a frown.

Your steps were heavy and your legs looked like lead,
I could have willingly a tear for you shed,
This is what you wanted, or so I thought,
No contact, so our feelings would be nought.

Sadness and loss was written on your face,
At one time my finger, your smile, would trace,
I think you miss me as much as I miss you,
But we can`t speak of the love we once knew.

You`ll be in my heart `til the day I die,
`If things had of been different` I think and sigh,
When we met it would have been a hug and kiss,
Not heavy hearted, knowing what we miss.
