2010

We hardly missed the honey bees
The first year they were gone
There was news about our collapsing environment
But then came the real special effects ---
The monster hurricanes, endless draughts
And raging seas…
I remember reading Einstein once said
That if all the honey bees died
So would the humans
In just four years
But after less than three
We have come to the end.
Life has left the planet
Picked up and moved to outer space
And only zombies
Obsessed with hunger
Are left to roam for scraps
In a heap of jagged plastic
And rotting corpses
Unwittingly waiting for the day
When the sun drops inside the black hoop
Of the Milky Way
And our world is swallowed by the Jaguar
