Sometimes I see past the sex,
See further than your body
Reclining next to mine.
Sometimes I see behind your pale eyes
Or above your head
Onto a plateau of higher thought.
To an intangible world that has no ending,
Where there are no lies,
Where there are no rules,
Where there is no hurt,
Where everyone is happy
Because we are together.
Sometimes I wish we were telepathic,
So we could talk in private amongst the crowds
Or share a joke that no one hears.
Sometimes I see our lives
Entwined in rapture,
Never having to worry,
Never having to argue.
Sometimes I wish we could live forever
And never grow old,
Walking hand in hand towards a sun
That never sets.
Above all, sometimes I wish
That you were real.
