I want to go to bed early tonight,
the kids say "No!" and then they fight.
They won't go to bed, it's such a pain,
I need sleep to keep me sane.
"COME ON PLEASE LET'S GO TO BED"
"DID YOU HEAR WHAT I JUST SAID?"
"We don't care" they act with glee,
"we don't want to" I can see.
"We aren't tired" They're having fun
even though the night has come.
"COME ON NOW AND GO TO BED"
"NOW! YOU HAVE NO CHOICE"
"DON'T LOOK AT ME AND RAISE YOUR VOICE"
"I AM TIRED, YOU LET ME SLEEP"
"Mom, mom, I need a drink"
"NO YOU DON'T, NOW GO TO BED"
"Mom, I'm hungry I want food instead"
"NOTHING NOW, YOU NEED YOUR SLEEP"
"I DON'T EVEN WANT TO HEAR A PEEP."
Now that it's late they go to bed
never having listened to a word I'd said.
