Poetry For Everyday People

Each Others Back

Add me to your heart,
your thoughts, your good
memories, I write words
to enter a different gate,
I write to enter past the guard,
past life's obstacles, past stereotype,
past strangulation by shyness,

not many people wanna know how we
really feel about anything,
most are looking for a punch
line to reality, somebody to
get along with their get-by game,

for me that's tough, small talk
reminds me of a box with not much
air left to breath, I know we're all strangers,
but I would rather you tell me how you
feel about life's kiss, where you at with
this ride?  I spend too much time thinking
and the last thing I need is to talk about
nowhere as we hide there,

maybe if we're honest?  we can put our
heads together and find a cure,
drift someplace past our minds and curl
like smoke home, we all feel it?  I see it
in your eyes, as you walk past me, at Starbucks,
at the bars, reflecting off your wine glass,
the blue neon underneath your soul,

I love that pure sh=it man
where people let it all down
talk about it, share it,

mind picnics, soul friendships,
all weaving peace quilts to cover
our hearts,

pain survived is a beautiful scar
and I dig the faces of those dirty
with life.
