 Second Best?

I've always felt a bit sorry,
for Buzz Aldrin,
The SECOND man on the moon.
Although he was there,
on the first manned landing,
will he always be second best?

I've always felt a bit sorry,
for Sherpa Tenzing,
the SECOND man to conquer Everest.
Although he was only a few steps behind Hillary,
will he always be second best?

I've always felt a bit sorry,
for Pete Best,
who,
despite his name,
never-ever made it big.
If The Beatles hadn't got rid of him,
would it be John, Paul, George and PETE,
and not Ringo instead?

I've always felt a bit sorry,
for those men,
who've made love to the women I've known.
Because there's one thing that I'm certain of,
after me,
THEY'LL ALWAYS BE SECOND BEST!

(And that's the truth, ladies!)
