I Should Have Listened
SultryRose's Signatures
The darkest hour; the morning birds sing the dawn's awakening.
Restlessly tossing; I find I have failed again,
I should have been listening.
You spoke from your heart; you bared your soul to me,
Instead of absorbing your feelings;
I chose a preacher to be.
Feelings are neither right nor wrong; they just are
You needed a listening ear, not a speech from afar.
Forgive my brokenness, my prayer is that you will find,
The kind of friend that you need, not someone who
Is so, completely, blind.
May I have another chance to be the friend you wanted from me?
Will my restless night somehow assuage your agony?
Can you forgive my heart, so sorely smitten?
With all of my heart I know~~~
I should have listened
