 Build Upon The Rock

A fool built his house on the sand
The rains came but it did not stand
He did not reason if it would be secure
Against elements of weather for sure

A wise man built his house on a rock
Storms came but it stood firm on dock
Nothing could shake its foundation
It was built with careful preparation

Faith built on the solid Rock will last
Jesus will set you free from your past
By trusting in Him alone for salvation
Your life will have a sure foundation

Don't be a fool and leave Jesus behind
Without Him there is no peace of mind
The things of this world will fade away
Jesus is the only One you need today

Peter proclaimed Jesus as the Son of God
Revealed to him by God on the path he trod
Jesus said "On this rock I will build my church"
Peter means rock; what does it indicate as such?

As a leader, Peter would point others to the Rock
Jesus, the cornerstone, no earthly power can knock
It is a message all believers are called to proclaim
Hope and forgiveness of sins only through His name

Matthew 16:16-18 (NIV)
Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son
of the living God." 17 Jesus replied, "Blessed are you,
Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by
man, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that
you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church,
and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
