Absent Minded
Artisticly throwing money away
Its pay day and Ive always had this dream
this goal of inspiring people to line the streets
the sidewalks with coin
so i walk down the street following where id like to be
\stop at the store and buy what i need
and ask for a penny\
a nickel
a dime
a quarter
a loonie and a twoonie
I buy five lottery tickets
to give to people on my way
and i have a pen to write the numbers i see people wearing on them
and there i begin walking
i see aman wearing a numbered shirt
so i write the number on a ticket and my hand
i toss away my penny and never look back
i keep on walking down the street where i desire to be
i see a window
and in that window is the number 37
so i throw away the nickel write the number on another ticket
and again on my hand
i keep walking through the city streets
and see
a number here or there
waiting till ive thrown the quarter after i spot another number
it is payday and i want to start the lottery ticket fad
that lines the strrets with coins
after i spot the fourth number and my quarter is gone
i look for the fifth pitch the loonie and walk on
now i throw the twoonie when i see the next number
all this time writing the numbers on my hand
and one on each ticket
which soon i will give the tickets away
and how they must play
how it costs a 3 dollars and 41 cents
each to line the streets with gold
but you need lottery tickets to win the lottery
and numbered shirts to keep everyone enetertained
if they wish to win they can get up first thing
in the mornbing and cheat by listening for clues on the radio
but hey
on payday if you threw out a loonie a twoonie a quarter a dime a nickel and a pennie
the streets would be cleaner the poor kids would never be poor
and whenever you needed spare change youd never have to ask just walk around the corner
twice amonth costing you taxes of 6 dollars and 82 cents
two toonies to toss aside
two loonies to throw away
two quarters to hide along the way
two nickels and dimes to do whatever you may
and a penny
who cares about the penny but the street cleaners who get rich
once a month when you throw them all away
painting the coins different colors
and writing symbols for your wishes
letters and names
and never to be spent but misplaced in someones hand to be rememberd forever
in this game of throwing money away for collectors
so no one has to go without and the rich can give to the poor
with 3 dollars a day thrown away
and if everyone did this once amonth we'd have money all over the place on the streets
we could afford a whole new world
and life would be a brand new dream
and then the lottery tickets come circling around
when the kids come out picking up the loonies and twoonies off of the gorund
and you record the numbers of the pecking order of who and why
and one day it becomes a movie
and surprise surprise
this goal of inspiring people to line the streets
the sidewalks with coin
so i walk down the street following where id like to be
