Universal Soldier – Iraq November 2004

They put him in a uniform.
They taught him how to drill:
When they'd changed his mindset
They taught him how to kill
.
He shot a wounded enemy,
Probably didn't realize
Just saw the movement
Not the death in the eyes.
They took away his uniform.
Covered him in shame.
A man a thousand miles away
Deciding on the blame:

When you train a soldier then
Put him where the enemy's rife,
Can you be surprised
He fights to save his life.
At least he killed honestly,
Saw his victim face to face,
Unlike his political masters
Safe home in their power base.

Do you suppose
They get any thrills
From any of their
Long distance kills?

Do they get any
Feelings of might
Or is it just the thrill of office
That gives them that power by right.
