A Few Steps Behind

The steps I take along the way,
I stumble and I fall,
I sense Gods mighty shadow,
as He lifts me to stand proud and tall.

His righteous arms surround me,
to show me He cares,
He is only a few steps behind,
and not going anywhere.

We walk our pathways together,
detours obstruct our way,
a darkness surrounds us,
as we push obstacles away.

I fail to stay on course,
often slip to go astray,
things can go from bad to worse,
in a matter of a day.

That's when I get down on my knees,
give it all to God,
when I know my life is drowning,
I'll have a talk with Him.
