 JORVIK'S YORK

Viking hordes gather at York...
Wearing Celtic jewelery and drinking horns.
Displaying Norse swords...
While landing upon the Norfork Broads.

Be careful not to loose your head...
In your bed....
Said Constantine the Great...
As he put the brakes...
On the civilized Barbarian hordes...
From the Nordic north.

Giorgio Stephenson's steam puffing Agenoria...
Goes like a pocket rocket.
Packs such a... all mighty punch...
As you try to eat your lunch...

If it is glorious steam...
You should desire...
To lighten your fire...
Then Thomas Cook...
Will take you around the globe...
In a brightly painted Mallard Flyer...
Going one hundred and twenty six miles per hour...

Deans gate Gothic Minster...
Loves her Selby sister.
For being the jewel in the crown...
In Washington's Star & Stripes.
Is just a pure delight...
On a darkened night...

William the Conqueror...
Secured the unruly north by force.
While eating kosher pork...
In the medieval Merchant's Guildhall
As he drank mead...
On his sturdy steed.

Pay the boatman a crown...
Or a farthing...
To cross the river Ouse.
Guided by a mystery...
Brewery tour...
Is to be ensued...
Drinking loads of Painted Ladies...
Will put lead in your pencil...
A spring in your step...
As you create heat...
With pilgrims in the streets.

Gargoyles unlock...
York's treasure trove...
For scary folks...
While the dungeons are full of sinners...
Eating their hot spicy Christmas dinners.

Foss Island road...
Is surrounded by a Roman wall...
Over ten feet tall.
Medieval hot air...
Is a Monksgate nightmare...

Walking the midnight ghost walk of York.
Waterline cruises will amuse you...
The worlds largest railway museum...
Is a steam-buffs dream...
Come true...
Covered in glorious coal & steam...
Is enough to make you cream.

Give a dog a bone...
At the Punchbowl drinking hole.
While George Hudson frequented this street...
Just like a Phoenix in heat...
God bless jumping sheep...

Elizabethan sonnets...
Look so pretty in their Easter Bonnets.
While the Bronte sisters...
Loved their Yorkshire Pudding...
High in the Dales...
Is so detailed...
