 BEDWYN BEDLAMS

Another verse from my extensive "Salisbury Tales" series.

Great Bedwyn...
Is an architect's starlit gem...
Just like melted strawberry jam...
Upon your cheesy flan.
Emma Cox...
Is wearing her pretty post office frock.
While Gary Crook...
Is eating his spicy Lamb chops...
Upon the quarried marble rocks...
In his woolly socks...
Upon the walls...
Of John & Bens Lloyds master stonemasons shop...
Comes the words...
To make you rock...
Two hundred years...
At the grind...
Will surely make you blind...
Wendy Spiers is such a dear...
For chiseling away...
At the stonemason's ears...
Upon the stone jack's wall...
Speak these words out aloud...
So people...
Will know you have traveled...
So near and far...
To these most pleasant parts...
Sing out loud...
The words below...
To all your fellows down Church road.
While drinking a pint of best brew...
Is to be ensued...
Soaring above the fluffy clouds...
Is a story of a stone biplane.
Flown by a hero...
Of the Royal Flying Core.
In the first Great War...
To end all wars...
Monuments...
In sparkling white marble stone...
Are to be adored...
Or you will be floored...
By a perfectionist nudist's streak...
As you run...
Bare foot along the narrow streets...
Baby light my fire...
Is always to be desired.
Otherwise...
You will be encrypted...
Upon a stonemason's tall mountain spire.

"Repairs to Monuments"
"Corrections to the Ten Commandments"
"Put earrings in the ears of Sarah"
"Put new stone in David's sling, Enlarged the head of Goliath and extended his legs"
"Decorated Noah's Ark"
"Mended the shirt of the Prodigal Son and cleaned his nose"

Total cost of repairs thirty-eight pounds fifteen shillings and sixpence.
A great bargain to behold as it took a perfectionists a millennium never to finish his work.
