The War Is Over

*Normally I don't do intros to my writes but this one is different.
My grandmother tried to get me to break the law, then she tried to get me
to stand by while she blackmailed a family member
so this is a dark write but there is a reason behind it. *

The War Is Over

Oh look...
What we have become
the debris is falling
the ties are burning in the poison sun
could you let up?
Look at all you have done
one set of headaches over
now a new one has begun

can we ever say the war is over?
Look now over your shoulder
a life forever changed
no more smiles in the picture frames....

Oh feel....
The memory is all we ever are
it's gonna fade one day
so don't wait
to say I am sorry, to make amends
you can never go back
but a fresh start can begin

can we ever say the war is over?
Look now over your shoulder
a life forever changed
no more smiles in the picture frames....

Flip the calender
keep the fakes smiles
it will all be over soon
just after the longest mile
seeing what you reap
oh isn't it sweet
maybe I shouldn't't feel this way
but what you sow
has been your defeat

the war is over
feeling matured and older
a life forever changed
it was never simple
but I am glad
it can never be the same
rot in your excuses
and bless the victims
you tried to smother
my dear vindictive grandmother.....
