Of Ignorance And Innocence
Young man, Gangsta, more wanna be
Just like scarface, Cuba set free
Will spin the wheel of life to glory
Their death or jail, their end, their story
Young lady, just turned fifteen
Will fall in love or so it seems
Become a mother at such an age
Chapter of life, torn up the page
Writing, waiting for this has been
She'll give up hope for news of him
Expose herself, baby as well
To part time dad's, an infants hell
Child of father, now left alone
Crying will ask when he'll come home
Answers none to give someone
Who last saw dad when they turned one
The price one pays, priceless yet still
Impacted lives, their need to fill
Where innocence takes a backseat
To ignorance when these words meet
Call it Ghetto, Maybe mistake
But how much more or less will it take
To change mindsets that fail to see
Of ignorance and innocence unseen clearly
