A Poem To Get By
I read my life
in reverse
and it made me
throw up,
I can't change
what hurts,
what hurt,
if we can go back
in our minds
why can't we
change it,
isn't our mind
a time machine?
I'm thinking about it
now,
I'm there,
I can feel it,
taste it, smell it,
live it,
why can't I change it?
why can't we change it?
living in this shell
full of function
and I wanna beat it,
I wanna out smart
what I'm not smart enough
to reach, utilize, I wanna
beat my own brain at chess
but it adjusts to my every last thought,
as the rain
always finds love,
as time
always finds a friend,
as I
always reach for you
even when I'm
not there.
