The Ocean
Sunshine grins
As my day begins
Tee shirt navy blue
Words inscribed are true
For a very good friend
Whose life came to a bitter end
Jean shorts I chose
Flip Flops slip between my toes
On this cheerful smiling day
To the ocean I'm on my way
I will again be a child
My inner child gone wild
Bringing my bucket and shovel too
Building sand castles is what I'll do
Making some big some small
Playing beach ball
Looking for sea shells
Breathing in sea smells
Placing shells to my ear
So I can hear
The sea calling my name
Showing no shame
Run, jump, splash in water with glee
Blue sky, yellow sun, all for me
Having it my way
Right here is where I'll stay
Laughing, giggling, lots of fun
Playing here until the day is done
Footprints in the sand
Holding sand in my hands
The ocean I can be me
I can be free
