Heart Of The Matter
Someone, To Make Me Whole
As day succumbs to dark of night,
And all is quiet around me,
I think about the way I was,
The day before you found me,
A happy, laughing, woman-child?
My demeanour, so carefree?
Or lost, within a safe cocoon,
Where no one really knew me,
To tell the truth, I can't recall,
The woman I was then,
I do know that you changed me,
But I can't remember when,
I know that I grew stronger,
I blossomed in your care,
For I had found in you, my love,
The answer to my prayer,
I didn't pray for riches,
For diamonds or for gold,
But I prayed for one that I could love,
When winter turned to cold,
Someone to understand me,
Who knows me to my soul,
Someone, so very special,
Someone; to make me whole.
