~In Honor Of My Parents~
~*~

As I stroll the sea's sandy shore at sunset

The laughter of children splashing at play,

Brings childhood memories I know of best

Of a little girl enjoying a sun warmed day.

~*~

I remember gathering shells at early dawn

Partially buried among the rocks on shore,

My little toes wiggling in the sand so warm

Warming my heart to tickling even more.

~*~

The feel of waves washing against my feet

As they receded back into the ocean blue,

Like a child returning home at end of day

Feeling secure in arms of parents so true.

~*~

The setting sun with hues of crimson red

Ends the day with a serene sight to behold,

Returning at early dawn with rays of gold

As in life another generation takes hold.

~*~

Now I am a grandparent of a child so little

Who one day will stroll keeping in store,

Memorable joyous days of a child at play

While gathering shells at a sandy sea shore.
