Dear Son,
Today's your birthday, and I sit here reflecting
On our journey through the last twenty nine years,
Our lives have not been easy, by any stretch
Of the imagination, but did I ever tell you? your my heart.
I have not been a perfect story book mother, yet I know you love
Me deeply, no one could ever make me laugh the way you can,
You and I always found the humor in so many things that others
Didn't, do you remember when we would be at the table eating,
You would say something hilarious, and I would almost choke on
My food? say, son, did I ever tell you? your my heart.
Sure there have been sad and trying times, there called "life"
I would go to bed in a deep blue depression, so many
Times I couldn't count them, thinking I just couldn't face another
Day, and here you would come, and do what ever it took to get
Me out of the funk I was in, even if it meant making me furious
At the time, hey son, did I ever tell you? your my heart.
Do you remember that little jingle you use to sing to me? "you
Are my best friend" I miss hearing you say that, But I'm so glad
That you have a new best friend, a lovely lady to love and laugh
With, the sad times fade in our memories as time goes by, but
The laughter, that's what we always remember, by the way son,
Did I ever tell you? your my heart.
I'm so grateful to be your mother, so very proud of the honorable
Man that you've become , I hope I share a part in your convictions
And beliefs, that you hold so dear, God has certainly blessed you
And me, I wish we had a hundred dollar bill for every mile we've
Traveled down the road together, we would both have a nice little
Nest egg,
Did I ever tell you how very much I love you, do you know?
That you always have been, are, and always will be, my heart, Happy
Birthday son, love mom.
