 Excerpt

Death stood at his shoulder
Overnight moved much nearer
She could see its every detail
So very much clearer

She pulled her lover to her
Beat down her need to cry
And whispered in his ear
A fond fond goodbye

He kissed her back and laughed
Said I won't be away for long
I'll miss you so my darling
Be happy while I'm gone

She watched him walk away
Cursed the gift of second sight
Knew deep in her heart
They'd not share another night

She shivered there suddenly
Felt its icy cold breath
And turning towards it
Faced her imminent death
