for kim...
the lady in blue said
how do you do-
i'm not much impressed
with this view or this hue...
so she ripped up the carpets-
knocked down the walls-
cushioned the playground
and got a new hall...
she put down new carpet
on all of the floors-
put up soft curtains
and matched all the doors....
she ripped up the orange
from staffroom chairs-
replaced it with blue-
put up pictures in pairs...
she cheered up the kitchen
with furniture- new-
matched all the colours-
and freshened the loos...
she then planted trees-
and shrubbery too-
covered the brickwork
with colourful views...
she insisted on dancing
and music and song-
told children to smile
when their faces were long...
the lady in blue said
toodle loo-
now i have nothing
left to do...
she smiled and waved
to all her old crew-
‘cos now she'd found another
shabby school to renew...
Joy Weare.
