 ramblings and things

la difference

there was a tension next door
at the neighbour of my best mate;
they should have been somewhere else
and were obviously so very very late.

innocently their car gleamed,
with the bonnet stuck in the air
and we four oily dirty blokes
clustered around it standing there

we had done every check
every trick and wangle we all knew
including the well placed curse
until the air was somewhat blue

and then she arrived
bringing us all a drink
giving us a break
a little time to think

she was a picture of elegance
looked and she smelled so nice
and she gave us in passing
the benefit of her advice

have you checked the tyres
are you sure they aren't flat
well it was only a suggestion
no need to be like that

for we looked at her in wonder
then all our tension left the air
as we all burst out in laughter
and humour replaced  despair

and believe it or not
we stopped being tired
and very soon after that
the engine relented and fired

oh lord thank you for many gifts
for being benevolent and kind
but most of all dear lord thanks
for that very different female mind
