Lesley

Did I charm you… to disarm you…
from the fears I could no longer fight?
Of the lost and lonely child
crying endlessly through the night.
Did I not let you see what life was to me
how I craved for somebody's love?
I just never knew whose heart was true
when push then came to shove.
But I loved you… always loved you
every day you have been in my heart.
Your smile as you kissed my lips…
I remember through all the years passed.
I am so very sorry if I hurt you…
but the truth is I hurt myself more.
And now that I am lonely… old and lonely
my charm will haunt me for sure.
