In Your Absence
In your absence I will try
To keep you here where you abide
Inside my heart that pains today
Of loss unmeasured spoken today
You will be missed and looked for too
Although we had the you we knew
For a short time, memories I'll hold
Of you I love, today time stole
Inside of me where no one sees
You touched my soul where I believe
I felt could stand this sad goodbye
But it still hurts, asking us why
Why not me or someone else
You left too soon, absence now felt
Of one who I would call my friend
Barbara, sister that God would lend
My heart tells eyes today don't cry
But your not here and they don't lie
For in them too they too will keep
You I hold dear, now fast asleep
The good news is, someday we'll see
What God now has, taken from me
To share what once was yesterday
Sister I love now and always
Written for and dedicated to
Barbara Pagliaccetti
