Words of Life, Love and Praise

Sands of Time

As I sit here looking out to sea
My thoughts are consumed by what might have been-
Had things been different....
Had we been free.
Rarely a day goes by without thoughts of you.
Even now as I sit here watching the crashing waves-
The tide rolling up onto the sparkling sand
Making it's path fresh and new – and I wonder,
What will it take to finally rid my heart of you?
Will your memory ever cease….
Shall this soul ever truly know it's center?
You were there but a moment,
Yet your touch I fear will last an eternity.
Everything about you – all that you are,
Such an enticement for one such as I...
This heart and soul offered to you-
Yet here they reside – unclaimed,
Circumstances insuring they remain so.
Circumstances...circumstances, how I hate that word!
So much promise crushed into tiny fragments
To be cast upon the waves, eternally tossed
until finally scattered upon the sands of time.
