Heart Of The Matter
Out Of Season - Revisited
So strange, being here,
This time of year,
A seaside town,
Devoid of cheer,
No ferris wheel,
No paddling pool,
No circus clown,
To play the fool,
Redundant now,
The wishing well,
The copper coins,
With tales to tell,
Like tarnished hopes,
And verdigris,
Forgotten now,
The summer breeze.
Replaced by winters,
Icy chill,
The busy harbour,
Now is still,
The sea is calm,
Soft and serene,
And twinkling cold,
November scene,
The quiet waves,
Still lap the shore,
A vibrant sun goes down,
Once more,
As darkness falls,
Mid afternoon,
Sun superceded,
By the moon.
