I Must Be Me
Look into my eyes
and you must clearly see
I'm still the one you fell in love with
yet now you ask I not be me
I really don't understand
who it is you wish to see
I can't be what I'm not
I can only be me.
It's thru your eyes I'm viewed
and can you not plainly see
Please look very close
you will see the same me
The very same one
the very same she
Could the change be in you
instead of in me
My love for you
will forever fly free
Yet now you don't like
as being apart of me
You ask me now to change
these things I give so free
be sure of what you ask
for in the end I won't be me
I'm open to joint compromise
but I have to be me
If that you can not love
Then I ask you set me free
