An Angel In Our Midst...(poem at bottom of page)

We make decisions everyday, we hope that they are all right, but sometimes they turn
out to be wrong, even disastrous, even as infants, we make the decision to cry
when were hungry, or we have a wet or dirty diaper, that would be the right
decision, the wrong decision would be for the baby not to alert his parents when
these actions take place, and when that happens, well we get diaper rash, and if
goes untreated, it can turn into a mess for all parents, such as, neglect, it's like
dominoes stack in line on their ends, if one falls, they all fall in line.

Then as we grow into children, we make decisions, our friends, we hope to pick someone
who will compliment our personalities, but we don't always do that, meaning, a
friend may talk you into doing something that would get you into trouble, so
therefore, we've made the wrong decision.

With the teenage years, we make more decisions, and more often than not, they seem
to get us in more trouble than they are worth, very few teenagers make the right
decisions, every time, the teenage years would be the most difficult to decipher
which decision would be "the right decision."

All through adulthood, decisions are tossed our way every day, in every direction, some
easy, some hard, and at times we must make decisions on what is right for
other people also, such as our children, even though they must learn own their
own how to make right decisions, or good decisions, it's always a blessing when
someone makes a wrong decision, to mend it by learning from it, and then hopefully
the next time, "the right decision" would be easier to come by.

This past week, in a small town, someone called the police because a snake was caught
in a birdhouse, they thought it may have been a rattlesnake, it was curled up in the
birdhouse with the head hanging out, so the police did come to investigate,
meanwhile, down the hill from that resident, there was a grandpa taking his two
small grandson's fishing, one age five, the other age two, they had just arrived on
the fishing dock of their private pond, when they heard gunfire and the bullet hit
the water in front of them, the grandfather took a hold of his grandson's and yelled
out that there are people outside, and then another bullet came, hitting the five
year old in the head, they had no idea that the police was up the hill, shooting at a
snake, stuck in a birdhouse. The five year old died and they laid him to rest a few
days later, the parents were devoted Christians, but none the less devastated by
somebody's wrong decision, the police could have trapped the snake in a bag or
bucket, yet, one of the police decided to use his weapon, a terrible decision that
cost a lot of grief throughout the small town community, all because of one wrong
decision.

No matter what occupation your in, decisions are to be made, everyday of your life, why
that police person did what he did, by shooting a snake, only he/she can explain.
Calculations should be considered when making decisions, don't be impatient with
yourself or anyone or anything else, wrong decisions come when we become
impatient, calculate the possible out come of each decision you make, will it or could
it affect other people? Would anyone or anything benefit from this decision? How
would everyone benefit? Calculate the loss, and the gains, don't second guess
your ability to make the right decision. Right now, we all think that we would have
made the right decision by not shooting that snake, but we don't know that, we
may have fled the scene, and then what, someone would have been unaware of
the snake, and possibly went to feed the bird, and gotten bit, and possibly died, or
the snake could have gotten out and slithered down the hill to the pond, and
waited for a victim and used his venom to destroy a life,  I would have just fled
the scene, and by doing that, I would have been putting someone's life in
jeopardy, not planning anything to go wrong, but sometimes it does. The snake
was found to be a black rat snake, which is not poisonous I believe, but I don't
particularly enjoy snakes.

It all goes back to our decision making, and how we calculate the risk of the decisions we
make, hurting someone, or ourselves, or benefiting those around us. Will it affect
me and my well being, or will it effect a life, a family, a community, forever.

Tribute To Little Austin

No one knew when you were born
That you would only be here for a little while,
Quickly they knew that they would always
Love your beautiful smile.

Five years is never long enough
To love someone dear,
The times we will forever
Cherish when you were near.

You were an angel in our midst
And we never knew,
That God had picked you from
A very few.

Your life was short but your knowledge
Was strong,
And in your heart was a very
Special song.

You were an angel in our midst
And we never knew,
That so soon you would soar with
Other angels in the sky so blue.

Now heaven has gathered yet
Another of it's own,
To rest in your heavenly
Father's throne.
