Heart Of The Matter
Why Not?
The River, Glen Lednock, Photographed by Linda Harnett © 2007
Why not come away with me,
And wander mountain glen,
Pick our steps through bracken,
Find a place to sit and then,
Why not have a picnic there,
A plastic glass of wine,
The sun shines bright this morning,
The outlook's looking fine,
Why not spend some time alone,
Just taking in the view,
Nothing ever changes there,
Except for me and you,
Why not walk in golden fields,
Of barley, corn and rape,
Why not, lose face in the mountains,
Why don't we just escape?
Why not sit by golden stream,
And watch time floating by,
There's no one there for miles around,
Why not?
Just you and I.
