Today we saw a free air display
Some we saw as on the beach we lay,
There were helicopters in formation
And fighters that defend our nation.
These were taking off from Culdrose Air Base
To fly one of these you have to be an Ace,
Fighters screeched across the clear blue sky
Soaring onward and upward so very high.
Some thundered passed with a terrific roar
Heading out to sea then back to shore,
Some did a roll-over round and round
Reaching for the sky then back to ground.
Some did a loop the loop and flew upside down
These pilots are the defenders of the `Crown`,
They needed a brave heart and a steady hand
To fly these planes then bring them in to land.
So we enjoyed our free air show I must say
We didn`t have to move from the beach where we lay,
We couldn`t of had a cheaper day out
We`ll come again next year without a doubt.
