What to write, pressing these thoughts
Today begins anew, distraught
The mind boggled, but keyboard ready
So steer your poem and keep it steady
Just like a ship, this tale will weave
A dream of hope your mind conceived
Or just a thought to catch one's eye
Of love, childhood, or sad goodbyes
Of God, fairies or perfect strangers
Obsessed message and unknown dangers
You spill your thoughts, ink less this write
To cure this need, in you that fights
Let them read what is in you
Help them see what helps one through
The day is young, the night is long
Your words now read where they belong
Casual this meeting, or was it chance
To voice feelings, maybe romance
The reader who may stop on by
To share with them hello, goodbye
To test their faith and have some fun
Speaking of life and whats been done
To you and them gathered today
Unknown yet friend with words you'll play
Dear poets, open thy heart, thy treasure chest
Search deep your thoughts one keeps priceless
Dancing this waltz of words written
With those your peers your poem has bitten
