Sitting on the porch swing
On a hot summer day
Drinking up my beer
In my lazy way
Checking out the people
As they walk on by
What a great old feeling
It makes me want to cry
Children playing Frisbee
In the yard next door
Laughing and a screaming
Memories they restore
Memories of a childhood
Not so long ago
I wish I could go back
Why did I have to grow
Time goes by too quick
We grow up way too fast
Why can't we just stay children
Why can't those years just last
Where life was just so simple
And dreams they would come true
We would change the future
If we only knew
Sitting on the porch swing
Getting old and gray
Thinking ‘bout their future
As the children play
Will they be much better
Than I am today
Only if we make it
Be like yesterday
