NO NAMEHow did it end like this? Once a man of energy and character Everyone's second pair of hands if needed Everyone's ear to soothe and placate Or advise and assist No-one's concern now you are past your best How did it end like this? A father to four, and yet cast aside For reasons which are twenty years old And fuzzy to the memory Your siblings and kin Already resting in green field of headstones No-one's concern now you are past your best For it all to have ended like this Unremembered Three weeks after sighing your last Slumped upon a moth-eaten armchair Still facing your window on life A cold cup of tea on your table Where your world passed you by Strangers came to find you Men in uniform with stretcher Who lifted your frame And empty soul and Carried your helplessness To a place more genial Will they wonder what happened to you?
